AL Kennedy“Alison Kennedy opens the door of her sepulchral flat in Glasgow, head bowed and muttering incomprehensibly. She is round-shouldered, blue-jeaned and bare-faced… small, hunched person.”

Blue Book

Blue Book

The new novel from ALK "The Blue Book" will be out on August 4th and here is your first look at the very pleasant and blue cover. Isn't it lovely ? We don't want to give too much away at this point, but we can say that "The Blue Book" is a love story and involves a fake medium.

And hello to all those of you who find it tautological to put the word fake in front of the word medium.

More will be revealed later, as they say, and meanwhile you can go to this link http://www.lannan.org/lf/rc/event/a-l-kennedy/ to hear ALK reading from the novel and chatting in Santa Fe with those very nice Lannan Foundation people.

2011 Summary...

2011 is already as stupidly busy as 2010 - plenty of radio pieces appearing as the year goes on - including a documentary and some (intentional) drama. Several film and theatre projects are in the offing at the moment and as soon as we have any firm details we will post them on the site.

And - of course - there will be a new novel "The Blue Book" appearing on the 4th August and being shamelessly promoted until everyone is sick of it - perhaps quite quickly...

The Radio Scotland sitcom "Laverloch Findo Speaks" appeared in the spring with Barbara Rafferty and Andy Gray, among others - the others including ALK.

A radio drama by ALK "Confessions of a Medium" was broadcast on BBC Radio Four on 13th March, 2010 at 14.30. Cast: Bill Nighy and Robert Glenister, Jonathan Keeble, Fiona Clark, Andrew Westfield, Daryl Fishwick and Daniel Browell for that. Which made us happy. They did a splendid job. There should be one or two things along not completely dissimilar lines later this year.

If you're in Germany or German-speaking countries there should be a fair amount of ALK about the place this year - so pleanty of opportunity for continental trains to break down, catch fire, or get lost and end up in Moldova...

The Stories From Latitude offering seems to be getting unreasonable numbers of repeats, so listen out for that - and the banjo-playing one may emerge again... Or the oilspill one, or the train one... who knows...

The WORDS show hasn't quite retired yet, but there should be a new show coming along in 2012. Yes, 2012 isn't that far away, suddenly.
